Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question about Loud Shirt Day and want a quick answer? Find everything you need to know below.

1. What is Loud Shirt Day?

Loud Shirt Day is a global campaign held annually in October, dedicated to raising vital funds to give the gifts of sound and speech to children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

2. How does Loud Shirt Day work?

Loud Shirt Day encourages members of the community to get LOUD and showcase their support by dressing in their best (or worst!) LOUD shirt and raising much needed funds for children with hearing loss. It is easy to get involved, all you need is to start is a WACKY shirt!

Register online  and we'll send you your free LOUD fundraising pack including a handy ‘how to’ guide, posters, a donation box and more.

Then start making noise by inviting your friends, family, workmates, community group, dogs, cats, basically anyone you know to join in the fun and get LOUD by donating or joining in on the LOUD movement!

3. Why do I have to register online?

We encourage everyone to register online, not only to receive their free LOUD fundraising pack, but to join our online community with other LOUD fundraisers to share tips and tricks to get LOUD!

Did you know that in 2019 Loud Shirt Day supporters who actively fundraised online raised a staggering three times more than those who didn’t?

4. Do I have to host my LOUD event on Friday 23 October?

The official date of Loud Shirt Day is Friday 23 October, but you can get LOUD on any day during October.

5. When will I receive my LOUD fundraising pack?

We will start sending the LOUD fundraising packs in early August. But if you have not received yours, please contact your local Loud Shirt Day team on fundraising@hearandsay.com.au.

6. What if I need more information or help with my LOUD fundraising?

If you need help or more information or just want to share your LOUD story, please contact your local Loud Shirt Day team at fundraising@hearandsay.com.au.

7. What do I do with the money I have raised?

There are many ways to donate your fundraising. Check out our donation page for these options and much more.

8. What impact will my fundraising achieve?

Hear and Say is a Queensland-wide charity supporting children and young adults across five centres, as well as via a Telepractice program for rural and remote families. Our current programs and services include audiology, listening and spoken language therapy, school hearing screening, social skills programs, and physiotherapy and occupational therapy support. Hear and Say is also committed to clinical research and professional development.

Our aim is to support all children to hear, listen and speak so they can attend mainstream school, and fulfil their potential across all areas of life. Hear and Say combines state-of the-art hearing technology (such as digital hearing aids and cochlear implants) with specialised listening and spoken language therapy.

Almost 100% of children who have graduated from our early intervention program in the past five years have entered mainstream schools, and are speaking at a level equivalent to their typically-hearing peers.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Hear and Say must raise over $10,000 each year, for up to six years, to fill the funding gap for one child with hearing loss to listen and speak.
